In 2026, it still happens estimated 6 million times a day.
There’s a fix.
It’s been available since August 2020…but very few people actually use it.
Just go to Settings, Meeting and check “Request permission to unmute”
Then when you create a meeting, click Edit, Meeting Options or More and check Request permission to unmute participants.
When attendees log into your meeting, they need to click Allow. I suggest you send an email before hand and ask them to click Allow.
Then during the meeting, when someone start talking on mute, DO NOT say “You’re on mute”, INSTEAD click “Unmute” and save them the embarrassment of being on mute.
